The average shipping timeline takes from 3 to 10 days. Depending on the shipping type you choose, it can fluctuate. You can have open car transport, which is widely available, so the timeframe is shorter. On the other hand, enclosed car transport can take longer due to low availability, but it’s obviously a safer shipping type.

However, here's a more detailed breakdown to help you understand shipping timelines better:

Different Shipping Timelines

  • A short shipping timeline is 1 to 3 days for distances of 0 to 500 miles.

Short distances are often within local regions. Local car shipping is easier, and drivers can complete it in a day.

  • Medium Distance (500–1,500+ miles) Shipping timeline: 3–7 days

Medium distances are usual for state-to-state shipping.

  • Long Distance Shipping Timeline: 1–3 months

Long-distance shipping is cross-country. They take longer because of multiple stops and route planning.

Factors Affecting Shipping Timeline

  • Route: delivery terminals with rough roads often extend the car shipping timeline.
  • Distance: the farther the delivery location, the longer the delivery time frame.
  • Carrier Schedule: If you schedule early, you’re more likely to get your car delivered sooner.
  • Very cheap carriers: Sometimes, inexpensive doesn't just mean cheap; it also means delays. Cheap carriers mean more stops and slower routes.
  • Seasonal factors: The time of the year also plays a crucial role. Shipping your car during the holidays and festive periods always takes longer than usual.

In Conclusion

A reliable auto shipping company won't promise an exact delivery day, but they will give you a realistic timeline. For example, 2-4 days. After deciding what type of distance you're shipping, schedule your shipment early, and you won't have to worry about any delays.
